Ammut

Ammut is based off the ancient Egyptian demoness of the same name whose purpose it was to devour the souls of sinful hearts. Anubis weighed the hearts against the feather of truth and those found heavy with sin were fed to Ammut. She was the bringer of the final death, the death of the soul. With the head of a crocodile, the forequarters of a leopard and the hindquarters of a hippopotamus, she embodied the most dangerous creatures known to the ancient Egyptians. In my story, the crocodile who ate the hand of Captain Hook is in fact this ancient Egyptian diety and once she gets a taste of the Captain, she is hungry for more. She takes on a human form and goes after him. Despite the fact that she falls in love with him, she cannot deny her soul devouring, blood sucking demoness nature.
